Giveaway: Guinness World Records 2011

One of the books we gave the girls for Christmas this year was the Guinness World Records 2011. They have browsed friends' versions before, but we've never had one of our own. There's just something really cool about flipping open a book and filling your brain with interesting tidbits.

For instance, did you know that the most participants in a badminton rally was 96?  The rally was held on May 23, 2009 and was set by Aviva (Singapore), in Raffles City Mall, Singapore.

Now  you know.

And now you can find out more interesting info all on your own by winning your very own copy!

Here's how to enter:
  • Simply leave any comment on this post. Do you have a Guinness World Records memory? Do tell.  That's an automatic entry.
  •
  • For a second entry, tweet this: Win the 2011 Guinness World Records Book via @MeganDunham right here: http://bit.ly/dYPpur - Come back and leave an extra comment letting me know you did that.
  •
  • For a third entry, mention this contest on your facebook wall and include the link to this giveaway: http://bit.ly/dYPpur. Come back and leave another comment for that one too.
  •
  • For a forth entry, subscribe to this blog, St. Louis, Seminary Style. Come back and let me know that you did it!
  •
  • Go back to my landing page for this week's giveaways and reviews. Choose one of my "review only" posts to leave a comment on and then come back saying you did that. Presto! A 5th entry!
The winner will be selected by Random.org. This contest will close on Friday, January 28. The winner will be notified over the weekend and will need to respond within 48 hours or risk forfeiting the prize to the next in line.  IMPORTANT: You must make your email address available for me to contact you. If I can't contact you, I will choose another winner. It's happened before.

Congrats to:

I'm contacting you now!
Disclosure: I received my own copy of this book for the purpose of review. To find the tidbit I mentioned above I had to hunt the book down. My kids are keeping it in the car and now that I think about it it really is the perfect car book. I keep a proper disclosure statement available right here.

My kids love this book! My dear husband says that he used to memorize pages when he was a kid. I'm not sure that portrays him in a good light or not. I remember the TV show when I was a kid.

I talked about Bonanza on the last entry, so I'll talk about the cereal. I guess, besides being cheap, I'm an "old school" cereal girl. Some of those items just shouldn't be included in my morning routine. LOL!

When I think of world records, I cannot escape the vision of the woman with the seriously long fingernails. I mean, what does she do all day? Even the remote control must be a chore!

I remember the woman with the longest hair from when I was little. Good times!

I read your review of Becoming a Woman of Simplicity. I had to chuckle that you hadn't read it yet, but totally get it. It does sound like it would be very helpful to read. I'll have to check it out.

My husband loves reading these books. I remember the world's oldest dog lived to be 29.

I had one of these books as a kid, and I spent HOURS poring through it. I remember being fascinated by the woman whose fingernails twisted and twirled for yards. I kept thinking, how can she DO anything?

My memory with the GBOWR is that when my husband and I started dating, we used to sit in his dorm room reading all the funny/stupid/interesting stuff that was in all the books his parents had bought him every year! Now we buy one every year for our kids!

As a kid, I never had one of these books. My 5th grade teacher had one that she brought into class and whenever it was free time I was the first to run and grab that book. Almost addicting. :)
This is such a fun giveaway - thank you for the chance to win!
