"When Lena Grierson’s oldest daughter started school, and returned home one time too many without a glove, it was time to start labeling her name on things. Mrs. Grierson was surprised to find that there was no fast and easy way of doing that.
“Why not a peel-and-stick label?” she thought. Why not indeed! Thus LabelLighthouse.com was born. Mrs. Grierson and her company are the exclusive distributors of Stikins™ self-sticking name labels in North America. The Stikins™ self-sticking ID label is a very easy to apply clothing, shoe and item label. The clothing name label sticks on to the wash care label of the garment and is washer and dryer safe. It couldn’t be any easier. And that of course is the idea."
I love labels. There. It's out. I love labeling cups and pans and school supplies and...everything. But I'll confess that labeling fabric items has been rather a baffling thing to me, mostly because of the hassle factor. Enter Stikins from Label Lighthouse.
Now then, if you look closely at the photo above you will see the label isn't actually on the clothing itself, but on the care label. I'm wondering what would happen if you tried to apply the label to the actual fabric. Not sure on that. Just stick with the directions and you will probably be safe. Here's how they say to apply the Stikins:
Ensure that the garment is completely dry. Carefully peel the label from the backing paper, trying to avoid touching the adhesive. Apply the label onto the wash-care label of the garment. Using your thumb, smooth the label down for a few seconds to ensure that the adhesive fully bonds with the material. Do not wash the garment for at least 24 hours – This will allow the adhesive to continue to strengthen.
Here are the answers to other frequently asked questions.
They suggest you use their labels for other items as well. Now then, my thoughts: I am partial to my labels from another company with the fun colors and pictures and all that. I love them. But I really do like the simplicity of things, particularly for areas that really aren't going to show. The labels are very small which is a plus for labeling clothing and other hidden places. The simple white background with black text makes it easy to read, and again, I really do like the small size of them for the purpose of quickly labeling gloves, shirts, etc.
I also really like that they are peel and stick. I am a seamstress and I know what I'm doing with an iron. And I STILL hate iron on kinds of patches. This is a huge improvement over that. And fast. Did I mention fast?
I always get our labels printed with our last name on them. This solves the problem of hand-me-downs and such. So our labels say, "The Dunham Family" on them. I would show this to you, but, ahem, I can't find mine at the moment. I'm not sure if they are in the pile to the left of my desk, or one of the seven stacks in the basement. But take my word for it: They are small and they say our name.
And now you can win a Starter Pack of Stikins of your very own.

Disclosure: I received a my own starter pack of Stikins labels and once I find them - watch out! I will be labeling everything in sight. It isn't the fault of Label Lighthouse that I don't know which stack they are in. That's my own therapy session waiting to happen. See my proper disclosure statement here.

I like! My girls went to summer camp last year and I only had those iron-on labels, which are a total pain and don't last.

Love labels. I even have a label maker! These would be great since my daughter is in pre-k and things sometimes get lost in the shuffle.

I learned that these labels can survive the washer/dryer, dishwasher and microwave. Amazing!
